On April 22, believers from different denominations will take to the streets together with the Jewish community for Israel and against anti-Semitism.
In Latin America the doors are open wide for the message of the March of Life like never before. It will happen there on April22 in several countries. Paraguay is the country with the first official branch of the NSDAP abroad. After the war, many Nazi criminals found a new home there, such as the “camp doctor” of Auschwitz, Josef Mengele. The Marcha de la Vida will take place in the capital of Asuncion and lead past the former head quarters of the National Socialists, ending in front of the parliament building. It is supported by national pastors from across the board and the Jewish community. In Bolivia, a country currently openly supporting Iran, the Marcha de la Vida was granted permission to hold the march on Paseo El Prado which is the main boulevard in La Paz. Usually only pro-government demonstrations take place there. In Peru the Marcha de la Vida will set out from the port of Callao. In 1944, the Catholic Church had used its influence to refuse entry to 200 Jewish orphans. All of these children were then deported to Auschwitz where they were gassed. There is an exceptional openness on the part of the Latin churches and official agencies to make room for the Marcha de la Vida and with it to work through their own past. The veil of silence is broken in close cooperation with the local Jewish community.
