March of Life awarded in the Knesset

At a ceremony in honor of international evangelical supporters of Israel on November 22, 2011, TOS Ministries received an award for their outstanding help and support of Holocaust survivors and Israel in the auditorium of the Knesset.

In the event, 36 other organizations were also honored. The Israeli government was represented by the secretaries of Tourism, Immigration, and Integration, as well as by a number of members of the Knesset.
Jobst Bittner was invited as a speaker to report on the March of Life. His presentation was accompanied by very moving contributions from the dance group Yeshua’s Call and the band Be’er Sheva.

After that, the participants were invited to join a plenary meeting of the Knesset. When Speaker of the Knesset Reuven Rivlin, breaking the protocol, welcomed the guests in English and allowed them to give a round of applause, everybody knew that this was a unique day in history. He dismissed them with the following words: “We are accustomed to being criticized, and we know how much it means for us to have evangelical Christians standing with Israel in friendship. We love you!”

During the following days, the team participated in several events in Israel. On the occasion of a banquet honoring Holocaust survivors, Jobst Bittner handed over a check of US$ 9,000 to Andre Gasiorowski (Helping Hand Coalition) for a special social project for Holocaust survivors, who often live in very poor conditions in Israel. In the new community houses, they are given the opportunity to escape from their isolation and poverty and build up social contacts in a family environment, receiving hands-on support in their daily needs.
